Paleo Diet Before & After | 1 Year Weight Loss Update
I’ve been on the paleo diet for almost a year now. I indulged a little too much around the holidays… it’s so hard to avoid!
If you are just beginning to follow my journey and wondering “what is the paleo diet”, the paleo diet is a lifestyle that focuses on avoiding grains, processed foods, dairy (although I sometimes include high quality, raw, organic dairy since I tolerate it well), and sugar (I still eat natural sugar found in fruit as well as maple syrup on occasion).
I know I have to commit 100% from now on. Trying to have a more moderate approach to the paleo lifestyle always leads me into more and more junk food. When I’m 100% grain free, sugar free, and dairy free, I feel my best and have more energy and almost no cravings (which is saying a lot for me considering I love food).
It seems overwhelming to think about following a grain free diet for the rest of my life and I think that is part of the reason I keep trying to incorporate a bit of grains in my meal plans. I don’t think moderation is a possibility for me though. I feel better when I am fully committed and it’s so much easier to stick with.
I’ve lost about 15 pounds but would like to lose 5 to 10 more. This diet is really about how I feel though – the weight loss is just a bonus.
