What is Paleo?

The Paleo diet or also referred to as the “Caveman Diet” is a way of eating. As our ancestors before us didn’t have the option to go to the grocery store or butcher shop to obtain their food, they had no choice but to forage for their meals. They scraped what was available off the land, such as berries, edible plants and roots. Meat including fish consisted of whatever they could catch. If it was edible, they ate it.

Paleo Food List

Ditch the candy bar and Cheetos because this type of food is nothing but natural products that come from the earth. Acceptable foods for the Paleo eater consist of:

· Vegetables
· Fruit
· Meat and Eggs
· Fish and Shell Fish
· Nuts and Seeds
· Sea Vegetables
· Fats rendered from natural sources such as meat, nuts, and fruits
· Beverages that are also a derivative from nature which include, spring water, herbal tea, coconut milk, freshly juiced fruits and vegetables. (Keep in mind dairy milk is excluded, limit yourself to caffeinated teas and coffee)
Chocolate, dried fruits, and sweeteners such as honey should be used in moderation)

There are literally hundreds of recipes available. No need to feel cheated or that you are going to be missing out on things like “Grandma’s Meatloaf”.
